Tyler’s-Ville Community Park-Camden Location

Camden’s park on N. Main, now named Tyler’s-Ville Community Park (formerly Waterworks) was officially dedicated with a ribbon cutting and remarks by Camden Council and members of the Tyler Richardson Foundation. The park is named in memory of Tyler Shane Richardson. Tyler, the son of Shane and Ann Richardson and grandson of Camden’s Mack and Pat Parker, passed away at the age of 2 in a tragic accident and would have turned 16 today. The ceremony was attended by several friends and relatives of the family. And yes if you recognize him, the Big Red Machine’s George Foster was also in attendance and is a close family friend.

Update: in 2021 The Tyler Richardson Foundation presented the Camden Council with a check for $20,000 in park renovations.

We want to thank the Foundation and the Richardson family for the gift of the playground equipment for our community. Our village Council and the Foundation are hoping to work on other collaborative projects for the park. The COVID pandemic may have slowed plans this year, but one of these days, more fun things may be happening in our Tyler’s-Ville Community Park.

We also want to acknowledge and thank the Camden Lions Club for all they have done over many years so that we have the park. From purchasing and donating land, to building the shelter and maintaining the fencing, we wouldn’t have the park if not for them. Thank you all also.

Happy birthday, Tyler.
